'Toxic Warriors', the debut album by Taiwanese thrashers, Bazooka, will most-certainly blow your face off within seconds. Easily influenced by the likes of early Venom and Kreator, they are very much joining the same mind-frame as the already successful Toxic Holocaust and up-comers Panzerbastard. Recently signed to German label, Metal Inquisition Records, Bazooka will soon get the recognition they deserve, and are sure to go down a treat live, in Europe and America.
Like many of the recent crust punk-like speed metal bands, Bazooka show that raw, energetic noise can work just as well, or perhaps even better than some of their superiors. It’s about time the two opposites, punk and metal were put side by side, rather than just a crossover. With track titles such as ‘Combat Warfare’ and ‘March of the Dead’, it is clear what insanity this record will have to offer. However, despite being obvious music lovers of both punk and thrash, how far will Bazooka go in pushing the uniqueness of their songs, or will they all sound the same, staying within their boundaries? It will be interesting to see what the future holds for these young hopefuls.
