Israel’s finest (only?) progressive metal export, Orphaned Land, have been toiling on the epic ‘The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR’ for five years and are now ready to unleash their powerful Middle Eastern metal on us once again. The difference between ‘The Never Ending Way…’ and previous releases is that this sounds like a genie in a lamp - all your wildest dreams made real.

Opening song ‘Sapari’ is a solid gold slab of metal, executed with such stunning finery and richness that the flavour of Middle Eastern culture is a palpable vibe, blending seamlessly with the heavier aspects of the music. Flawless female vocalist, Shlomit Levi projects a seductive and unmistakable cultural identity which will make your hairs stand on end. ‘Bereft In The Abyss’ is simple but beautiful, with contrasting sounds, still exciting and exotic. ‘M i ?’ rains down a darker facet and ‘Codeword: Uprising’ has a nasty bite to it.

Orphaned Land aspire to unity through music and the promotion of acceptance and tolerance. They have always excelled at keeping the musical essence of their native Israel in their own sounds, but ‘The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOr’ writes the book on culturally diverse metal. Sumptuous and stimulating.
